Monogram and Photo Wall

A while back I saw this idea on a craft blog and I can't remember what blog....I loved it so much I had to do it in my home! Sadly I don't have near as much wall space as I'd like for this...but oh well! All you do is buy lots of letters at Hobby Lobby, JoAnns, Michaels....anywhere you see them....paint them or cover them with scrapbook paper and mod podge...and hang it on your wall! Throw in pictures too! Note: be sure to lay out your design before you place it on the wall to be sure you have enough space....plus it makes the hanging process much easier...as you can see I still need to add a few more pics...I've got gaps!

Dollar Store Frames

I love buying frames! Especially from the dollar store! Here are a few crafts I created using 8.5x11 frames!

I made these "EAT" frames for my kitchen...this pic isn't quite the greatest...it was taken from a weird angle.
I had craft night at my house this week and we made menu boards....the girls had the option of burlap or scrapbook paper for a background. One girl chose scrapbook paper so she could change it out for different seasons and holidays...there's a good idea! The girls also had the option to use magnets or ribbon for hanging purposes!
We also made these welcome signs at craft night....mine is hanging right when you walk into our home...I hate shoes on the carpet...especially with little ones moving around!
I made this "EAT" sign for my friends new house...for the background I used fabric...cute huh?!

Baby Shower Decorations

February was definitely the month of baby showers! I helped throw 2, plus had my own, and had 1 I couldn't make it to! I just wanted to share some of the decorations from one I helped throw and from the one that was thrown for me!

We kept it real simple with the decorations. I made the plaque that reads "boy, n: a noise with dirt on it" and the picture frame with the ultrasound picture on it. My friend Celeste had it at her house...she had the brilliant idea to use a curtain for the table cloth! It worked great!!
This frame was really simple. I just bought a 5x7 wood frame. I kept it brown, because it was going to match the nursery. I took the glass out, and replaced it with a 5x7 piece of metal. It was that easy! It was even easier because Lowe's sells pre cut 5x7 pieces of metal for .51 cents each! I know it's cheaper to buy a huge sheet and cut sizes I need, but I was going for convenience!!! I then used my mylar button maker to make the 2 magnets holding the pic! And for extra cuteness, I added some vinyl!
This was the banner I made. Very simple! I did 5.5 inch circles on my cricut, cut out letters on my cricut, punched holes and used ribbons and toile to connect it all together!
These are the lovely ladies who helped throw my shower =) From left to right: Kim, My Mom, Jacalyn, Me (I didn't help, just wanted to be in the pic, and so did Landon!), Tiffany, and Celeste...this was once again thrown at Celeste's house =)
My friend Jacalyn made this cute plaque, I cut the vinyl, but she did the rest! I love the idea of adding the flower for an embellishment! She also made this cute flowery ball out of toile and styrofoam! Super cute!
My friend Jacalyn also assembled this cute Sugar & Spice block! Once again...I love the little flower!!!
These were ordered off of an etsy site...I would post which one, if I knew! Aren't these cute! I love that they are personalized!
You can barely see it, but the banner is hanging on the fireplace! My friend Jacalyn made that too! It's so cute...I wish I had a better picture!!!
Thanks ladies for throwing me a shower for Little Hannity! We are anxiously awaiting her arrival!!!

Burlap Picture Frames and FHE Board

I am really into burlap home decor items lately! A while back I saw a picture frame on Shanty 2 Chic that I just loved! It was a big frame with about 5 smaller ones inside! No glass...just frames, burlap and some clips! Unfortunately I don't have the wall space for the big frame, so I made 3 smaller ones! Here's what I did...
1. Painted some old frames I had lying around.
2. Sanded the frames.
3. Painted a coat of mod podge over the top.
4. I sprayed spray adhesive to the cardboard on the picture frame backing.
5. Placed burlap on the cardboard.
6. Put the backing back on the frame.
7. Hot glued a metal clip to each frame...I paid about $1 for 2 at Wal-Mart.
8. On the middle frame I placed a wooden embellishment, using hot glue.
9. Clipped my pictures in place.
10. Hang!
I also made this Family Home Evening Board! I used chalkboard paint for the wooden tags, that way when we have guests over, we can write their names in!

Wreath Hanger, and a Wreath Revamp

A while back my friend showed me a wreath holder that a friend of hers had made...I loved it, so I of course had to make one too!!! This is made with a stair post, a fancy topper...I have no Idea what they are called, a rectangular piece of wood, a square piece of wood, a hook, screws and wood glue! Oh...and spray paint and a sander! Basically just paint and assemble like the pic shown!
I then realized I made this wreath holder, and I didn't have a wreath...so I went to Savers and purchased a wreath for $1...It had some really ugly flowers on it...so I took those off, wiped the wreath down, then painted it black.
It was plain and clearly needed something more...so I took this frame...$1 at Dollar Tree, painted and sanded it, then instead of placing a photo, I put some cute scrapbook paper in it. I then placed a burgundy letter L in the center and attached it all with some ribbon.
Here's the finished project...it looks great on my end table...

How to make a wipe off board

I have been in need of a small wipe off board for some time now. My husband and I want to start memorizing a scripture a week for part of our Family Home Evening. I had this exact same idea in my head, but it wasn't until I saw it made on my new favorite blog, Shanty2Chic that I decided to make it!

Materials Needed:
-Picture frame
-Paint
-Fabric, sized to fit your picture frame
-Spray adhesive
-Vinyl Lettering, optional
-Wipe off markers

1. If your frame needs painted, paint it. I cheated and bought one this time, it was the perfect size I needed, and color!
2. Cut your fabric to fit the size of your frame. My frame shown is 5x7.
3. Using spray adhesive, spray it onto the back part part of the pic frame (the part that would be touching the glass).
4. Place the fabric onto the side of cardboard with the spray adhesive. I used burlap, but this would be very cute with fabric as well!
5. Put the frame back together.
6. If you chose to put vinyl on, place that on the glass.
7. You're now the new proud owner of a super cute wipe off board!

We put ours on our desk, since we are always at the computer! That makes for a great location, where we will always see our quote. I think these would look super cute on a wall in a much bigger size!!! For the vinyl, a calendar would be cute, a Family last name, or your kids names, a cute little animal....the possibilities are endless!

Please share this blog with your friends, and if you aren't already, become a follower. Also become a fan on facebook! Have a great weekend!

Got frames you plan on getting rid of because you don't like them anymore??

I sure did! A while back I saw a really cute family room decoration at a craft show being sold for near around $40! It was made with picture frames and vinyl lettering... since I have a machine, I figured, I should make one! I had gone to many stores searching for cute cheap frames that fit our "medical school, student loan budget" and the cheapest ones that I liked were $10 a frame! To spell the word "family" that would cost me about $60! That's a little costly for a decoration for us at this time...so I went looking through some old frames and found that I had 2 each of 3 different sizes...perfect! So I got to work!

I took 2 each of 8x10, 5x7 and 4x6 picture frames that I already had....I believe they were like $2 many years ago at wal-mart. I had bought these when we were first married because that was what was in our "college budget." I just took some acrylic paint and painted all of them black. I didn't sand them first.
Once they were painted, I then sanded them...I like how the old paint colors showed through on the edges, giving it a little bit more color!
I then gave them a coat of mod podge, so that way way these will clean up easily when I dust them!
Once the mod podge was dried, I took a hot glue gun, and glued in the glass, you could also use glass glue...I just used hot glue because that's what I had...it was later in the evening and I wanted this project done!!!
After I glued the glass in, I then placed the vinyl on the glass! Here is the finish project!
I love how it's no longer bare above my tv!!!

Picture Frame

I made this picture frame to go on Paul's night stand. I covered a wooden frame with scrapbooking paper, then for the picture, I used some fun stamps and embellishments. I just love the birdie stamp. All products are Stampin' Up!

Cute Frame!

My friend Kim is the Young Women's President in her ward. She wanted to make picture frames for her girls. They turned out so cute! Plus I did the vinyl lettering.
